Course Summary

Computer software is a collection of data or computer instructions written by some programming language (like C, C++, Java, Python etc) that tells the computer or gives instruction to the computer how to work depending on the situation. So software can mainly categorized into two part- System software and Application software. System software is the connection between computer’s hardware and the application program. Through system software computer communicates with the hardware, For example-Operating Sytem.

Application software on the other hand created for a specific purpose. It is mainly created by the software engineer to do some specific work for the end user purpose. There are many types of application software present. Each and every software have their own specific purpose for the end user and by using those software the end user accomplish their task and their each and very day work. For example- Microsoft suite of products – MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-Powerpoint, Internet browsers – Chrome, Internet Explorer, Visual Studio Code, Media Player, COBOL etc.

We use software in our daily life. The most common software everyone uses is MS-Office suite’s software. They include MS-Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc. These software uses in college, school as well as in big company or organization also. Each and every software have their own specific purpose.

For example it is mainly used as a Desktop Application:
- Microsoft Word – It is used for writing documents, text, paragraphs etc depending on the situation.
Microsoft Excel – It works as a spreadsheet where it can be used as a small database register for a college class, grocery store etc. It is a type of small database.
Microsoft Powerpoint - A presentation program used to create slideshows composed of text, graphics, and other objects, which can be displayed on-screen and shown by the presenter or printed out on transparencies or slides.
Microsoft Access – A database management system for Windows that combines the relational Microsoft Jet Database Engine with a graphical user interface and software development tools. Microsoft Access stores data in its own format based on the Access Jet Database Engine. It can also import or link directly to data stored in other applications and databases.
Skype for Business - An integrated communications client for conferences and meetings in real time, it is the only Microsoft Office desktop app that is neither useful without a proper network infrastructure nor has the "Microsoft" prefix in its name.
Microsoft Project - A project management app for Windows to keep track of events and to create network charts and Gantt charts, not bundled in any Office suite.
Microsoft Teams - A platform that combines workplace chat, meetings, notes, and attachments. Microsoft announced that Teams would eventually replace Skype for Business.
Microsoft Visio - A diagram and flowcharting app for Windows not bundled in any Office suite.

With the help of google chrome you can browse different websites, you can download educational materials, watch movies, sports, and the most important thing that you send email with these software. These software play vital role in our daily life from browsing internet to scoail networking and contacting people with the help of skype.

There are other software present which are for entertainment purpose or to let us get entertained through the help of that software like the media player. For example like VLC media player, GOM media player, they are the common media player which help us to watch movies, videos for our entertainment purpose as well as for the educational purpose also. We can watch many educational videos recorded by different institution or by individual for our education purpose. These software helps us a lot in our daily life.

After all these there comes photoshop which is very important and lots of people use this software for their own purpose or educational purpose or for their professional purpose. Photoshop is a raster graphics editor developed and published by Adobe Inc. for Windows and macOS. It was originally created in 1988 by Thomas and John Knoll. Since then, this software has become the industry standard not only in raster graphics editing, but in digital art as a whole. Photshop is mainly use for editing purpose, image creation and graphic design. This software provides many features by which we can edit image. It uses a layer-based editing system that enables image creation and altering with multiple overlays that support transparency. With the help of photoshop we can add effects to image and we can resize the image according to our need.
