What is an AI Tool? What is so special about it?

An AI Tool like ChatGPT is a large language model developed by OpenAI that is capable of generating human-like responses to text prompts. It is based on the GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) architecture, which is a type of deep learning model that has achieved state-of-the-art performance on a wide range of natural language processing tasks.

The basic idea behind an AI tool like ChatGPT is to train a neural network on a large corpus of text data in order to learn the statistical patterns and structures of natural language. This pre-training is done on a massive dataset of text, such as the entire English Wikipedia, and enables the model to generate coherent, contextually appropriate responses to a wide range of text prompts.

AI tools like ChatGPT have a number of interesting and useful applications. For example, it can be used for customer service chatbots, virtual assistants, and even creative writing. By providing the model with a prompt, such as "What's the best way to cook a steak?", it can generate a coherent response, such as "There are many ways to cook a steak, but the best method depends on your personal taste and the cut of the meat. For a tender, juicy steak, you can try grilling it on high heat for a short amount of time, or pan-searing it with butter and garlic for a delicious crust."

One of the key strengths of Ai Tools is its ability to generate responses that are both contextually appropriate and grammatically correct. This is achieved through a combination of pre-training on a large corpus of text and fine-tuning on specific task data. The fine-tuning process involves training the model on a smaller, task-specific dataset in order to adapt its language generation abilities to a particular domain or application.

These AI Tools have several limitations as well. One major limitation is that it can sometimes generate responses that are irrelevant, nonsensical, or offensive. This is because the model is only as good as the data it is trained on, and it can sometimes learn and reproduce biases and errors present in the training data. Another limitation is that the model requires significant computational resources to train and operate, which can make it difficult to deploy in certain settings.

Despite these limitations, AI Tools represents a significant breakthrough in natural language processing and has the potential to revolutionise a wide range of industries and applications. As the technology continues to advance, it will be interesting to see how it evolves and what new applications it enables. If you are still not convinced then read here.
